About the Author

For the past fifteen years, Ashkan has studied and written about Ancient History in general and Alexander The Great in particular.

His first book, Course To Success: Everything You Need To Succeed Beyond School, is a self-help guide for students which focuses on success and balance in life.  The book offers students and young professionals advice on academic, social and professional endeavors and is presented through four main themes, or pillars.  The Chinese principle of Yin-Yang teaches students how to balance their priorities in life; Plato’s Principle of Specialization provides them with a framework to focus their energy where they hold a comparative advantage; Gestalt psychology emphasizes the degree to which team play is important while Freud’s Division of Mind theory takes them through the challenges they face from adolescence to adulthood.

For the past five years, Ashkan has written thousands of articles as columnist of the Young Professional feature at AskMen.com, the largest men’s portal online, according to Nielsen//NetRatings and comScore Media Metrix.  AskMen.com reaches a third of all male readers who search for men’s oriented content online, according to a study by HitWise.  His articles have been featured on AOL.com, MSN.com, the Financial Times website as well as scores of websites for young professionals.

In addition to his writing duties, Ashkan is vice-president at AskMen.com and serves as the men’s magazine’s resident interviewer, having interviewed an eclectic list of newsmakers and celebrities, such as  Hugh Hefner, Yoko Ono, Joe Montana, Gene Simmons, Alanis Morissette, LL Cool J, Patti Labelle, Grandmaster Flash, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jesse Ventura, Nas, Motley Crue, Paul Tracy, Roy Jones Jr., Russell Simmons, Def Leppard, Seal, Tears For Fears, Tony Hawk, Usher, Wyclef Jean, and many others.

Focusing on the common traits of the most ambitious and successful people, he has also profiled numerous successful businessmen, politicians, athletes and entertainers and tackled topics of great historical and cultural importance as columnist.

In The Confessions of Alexander The Great: 33 Lessons in Greatness, Ashkan aggregates his profound knowledge of Alexander The Great and presents a bird’s view perspective into the life, challenges and death of both the greatest military commander of all time and the most important secular figure of all-time.
